Russell-Fields City Pier Fishing

7.5· Pier · Panama City Beach, FL

Fee to fish: Daily fishing pass required; a cheaper spectator pass is sold (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Russell-Fields City Pier is Panama City Beach's own pier, more than 1,500 feet long, across Front Beach Road from Pier Park and open 24 hours a day all year. The end reaches deep, clear water for king mackerel, cobia and Spanish mackerel from spring to fall, while pompano, redfish, flounder and whiting feed near the beach. Fish a moving tide in green water with live bait off the end and spoons along the rails. A small daily fishing pass is charged; the city says the pier's bait shop is closed, so bring bait and tackle with you. City rules ban shark fishing, chumming and trolley rigs on the pier and limit each angler to one rod at the rail. Parking fills quickly, with more across the road at Pier Park. Hazards are summer lightning, strong sun, crowded rails and rip currents off the beach.
