A public fishing pier puts you over deeper water without a boat: long ocean piers off the Atlantic and Gulf beaches, bay piers on the sounds and lagoons, and old bridge spans kept open for anglers. Many charge a small daily fee and some sell bait and rent tackle. Each pier's page has its tide chart, what's biting now and today's forecast.
