Alsdorf Park Fishing

6.3· Backwater · Lighthouse Point, FL

Alsdorf Park is a City of Pompano Beach park on the Intracoastal Waterway at the NE 14th Street Causeway, just south of Hillsboro Inlet, best known for its public boat launch. The city lists fishing among its facilities, and the seawall where the launch basin opens onto the Intracoastal is a good place to try for snook, mangrove snapper, jacks and sheepshead, with tarpon and ladyfish in the warm months and bluefish after winter cold fronts. Clean inlet water pushes in on the incoming tide and bait flushes out of the canals on the outgoing, so fish the moving water around dawn and dusk. The park is open from sunrise to sunset and has restrooms, picnic areas, a playground and ADA access. Keep clear of the ramps and docks when boats are launching, and watch for wakes and summer lightning.
