At the north end of Ormond Beach's driving beach, the sand off Seminole Avenue runs south from Granada Boulevard as a wide, open stretch of Atlantic surf. The beach is open to fishing 24 hours. Anglers work the troughs for whiting and pompano on sand fleas and shrimp, and the wider Daytona-area surf also gives bluefish, flounder and black drum. Vehicles are allowed on this beach in posted hours, and Ormond is a quieter, more residential beach than Daytona's downtown, so it is easy to find room. Come on a rising tide, pick a trough, and keep rods clear of swimmers. Watch the rip currents and the traffic on the sand.
