POW/MIA Park, formerly Pineda Landing, is a 4.58-acre Brevard County park on the Indian River shoreline just north of the Pineda Causeway on US 1, and the county lists shoreline fishing among its features. Anglers fish the bank here for spotted seatrout, redfish and black drum all year, snook and mangrove snapper in the warm months, sheepshead in winter, and jacks, ladyfish and the odd tarpon when the fall mullet run moves through. Live shrimp under a cork or on a Carolina rig does most of the work. At Pineda the lagoon's lunar tide is negligible; wind moves the water. There is a restroom and paved parking. The county's current listing says the boat ramp is closed from April 23 to October 9 for dredging, a new ramp and a new dock, so check before you go. Lightning, heat and ramp traffic are the hazards.
