Rotary Park at Suntree is a Brevard County river park at US 1 and Suntree Boulevard, on the west shore of the Indian River Lagoon a couple of miles north of the Pineda Causeway. The county lists a 140-foot fishing pier and a sandy shoreline for fishing, with a big playground, restrooms and riverside picnic shelters, so it suits a family session as well as a serious one. From the pier and the bank you can catch spotted seatrout, redfish and black drum through the year, sheepshead in the cooler months, and snook, jacks, ladyfish and mangrove snapper when the water is warm. A cork rig with live shrimp and small soft plastics catch most of them. The lagoon here has almost no tide, so watch the wind. Keep clear of anyone swimming off the beach, and leave at the first thunder.
