Ambersands Beach Access is a small, unguarded Indian River County access on A1A inside the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, about three miles south of Sebastian Inlet, with an unpaved lot and a boardwalk over the dunes. There are no lifeguards and no buildings, so it suits anglers who like to roam a wild beach with a light rod and a pocket of lures. Snook patrol the first trough on summer mornings, the fall mullet run carries tarpon, jacks and big redfish south past the inlet and along this shore, and pompano, whiting and bluefish take over from late fall into spring. Bucktails and live mullet for snook, sand fleas for pompano and a spoon for blues cover it. Ocean tides come twice a day. The county opens it from 7 a.m. to sunset and lists no restrooms, so bring water. Rip currents and nesting turtles call for care.
