Historic Bridge Street Pier Fishing

6.9· Pier · Bradenton Beach, FL

Also called Bradenton Beach City Pier

The Historic Bridge Street Pier, also called the Bradenton Beach City Pier, runs out into the north end of Sarasota Bay from the foot of Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach. It is the island end of the old wooden bridge to Anna Maria Island, kept as a fishing pier when the drawbridge replaced it, and a covered pavilion at the bay end gives shade while you fish. Sheepshead and black drum work the pilings in winter, mangrove snapper and snook arrive with the summer heat, and spotted seatrout, Spanish mackerel and ladyfish feed over the grass around it in spring and fall. Fish a moving tide with shrimp, fiddler crabs or small jigs. The pier is busy, with a restaurant, a floating day dock and a ferry landing, so cast with care.
