Tom's Harbor Bridges Fishing

7.0· Bridge · Duck Key, FL

Free: Free fishing bridges; no fee to use them (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Tom's Harbor Bridges are a pair of old Flagler railroad spans running beside US-1 near Duck Key in the Middle Keys: Tom's Harbor Channel at about mile marker 60.6, and Tom's Harbor Cut at about 61.2. Both are closed to cars and serve as fishing bridges on the Overseas Heritage Trail, each with platforms cantilevered off the deck, and locals rate them highly for mangrove snapper. The strong flow between the Gulf side and the Atlantic also carries barracuda, jacks, yellowtail and mutton snapper, and permit and tarpon pass through. The trail is open from 8 a.m. to sunset, according to Florida State Parks, so fish a moving tide in daylight and favor the late afternoon. Cast only from the old spans, since county code bans fishing from the Duck Key Drive bridge next door. Watch out for heat, lightning and fast water.
