Curry Hammock State Park Fishing

6.9· Beach · Key Colony Beach, FL

Fee to fish: State park entrance fee, priced per person or per vehicle group (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Curry Hammock State Park, on Little Crawl Key in Marathon, protects the largest undeveloped stretch of land between Key Largo and Big Pine Key, with a 1,200-foot sandy Atlantic beach, seagrass flats and mangrove channels. The park says fishing is allowed, that its flats often hold permit and bonefish, and that the channel alongside has produced sizeable sharks, snapper and snook. Cast along the beach and wade the flats on a rising tide early in the day, or work the deeper water near the kayak launch late in the afternoon. Tides on this Atlantic shore come twice a day. The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset for a small fee, with a day-use restroom, an outdoor shower and picnic pavilions, but parking is limited and the park closes when the lot is full. Stingrays, lightning and heat are the hazards.
