Fort Clinch State Park Jetty Fishing

7.3· Jetty · Fernandina Beach, FL

Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle (checked Sep 27, 2026)

At the north tip of Amelia Island, Fort Clinch State Park meets the south jetty of St. Marys Inlet, the deep entrance to Cumberland Sound and Fernandina Beach. The park's old fishing pier was wrecked by Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and has since been removed, so anglers now fish the beach beside the jetty rocks and the inlet shoreline for redfish, black drum, sheepshead, flounder, whiting and seatrout, with bluefish, Spanish mackerel and tarpon in season. Tides here run five to six feet and the outgoing is the big-fish tide. The park charges an entrance fee and opens 8 a.m. to sundown. The visitor center sells bait and ice, and swimming is allowed only on the ocean beach south of the jetty because of dangerous currents.
