North End Dee Dee Bartels Boat Ramp Fishing

7.0· Pier · Fernandina Beach, FL

Free: No fee; open to the public (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The North End Dee Dee Bartels Boat Ramp is a Nassau County ramp on the Amelia River in Old Fernandina, at the north end of Fernandina Beach, with a pier on each side of the ramp that the FWC lists as public fishing piers. The river here is salty and swift near the mouth of the St. Marys River. Redfish, black drum and sheepshead feed around the pier supports for much of the year; trout, flounder and croaker come in their seasons, and jacks and bluefish push bait on the tide. Crab or cut mullet on a sliding-sinker rig takes the reds and drum, and fiddler crabs lowered beside the supports take sheepshead. The county lists the site as open to the public, with fishing allowed and picnic tables. Give way to boats at the ramp, and respect the current and summer storms.
