Main Beach Park Fishing

6.5· Beach · Fernandina Beach, FL

Free: No entry fee, according to the city (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Main Beach Park is the City of Fernandina Beach's busiest beachfront park on Amelia Island, at 32 North Fletcher Avenue. The surf in front of it is a good, easy spot for whiting, pompano, bluefish and redfish, with black drum in late winter and spring and sharks in summer. Fish a double-drop rig with shrimp, sand fleas or clams in the first trough on a rising tide, or cast spoons to bluefish in spring and fall. The park has parking, restrooms, outdoor showers and picnic shelters, and like all city parks and beach accesses it closes from midnight to 5 a.m. City code keeps fishing lines 300 yards from any staffed lifeguard tower, so in summer fish well up or down the beach, or early and late. Rip currents and summer lightning are the main hazards.
