Peters Point Park Fishing

Peters Point Park is a Nassau County beachfront park on Amelia Island's Atlantic shore, south of the Fernandina Beach city limits, with parking, showers and a picnic area. The county lists fishing among its uses, and it is an Amelia Island surf spot for whiting and pompano, with redfish, black drum and bluefish on the fall and spring runs and sharks in summer. Fish shrimp, sand fleas or clams on a double-drop rig in the first trough, or cut bait farther out for the bigger fish. The Atlantic tides here run twice a day, and the first of the rising tide is usually best. Beach driving is allowed north of the access for eligible drivers, and horses use the beach too. Watch for rip currents, vehicles and summer lightning.
