Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle, smaller fee for walkers and cyclists (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Anastasia State Park fills the north end of Anastasia Island across the bridge from St. Augustine, and it gives shore anglers three kinds of water in one visit: miles of open Atlantic surf, the south side of the St. Augustine Inlet at the north tip, and the sheltered tidal creek called Salt Run. The surf gives whiting, pompano and bluefish from fall through spring, the inlet end holds redfish, black drum and flounder on moving water, and Salt Run's grassy east bank is a wading and light-tackle spot for seatrout, reds and flounder. Fish the last of the incoming and the first of the outgoing tide. It is open 8 a.m. to sunset for a per-vehicle fee, and the concession sells frozen bait, including sand fleas, which you may not dig here. Watch for rip currents in the surf, strong current at the inlet and summer lightning.
