Mexico Beach Canal Park and Jetties Fishing

6.4· Jetty · Mexico Beach, FL

Mexico Beach lost its city pier to Hurricane Michael in 2018, and while the rebuild gets under way, Canal Park, at the end of Canal Parkway, is the town's easy shore spot: a bulkhead lines the Mexico Beach canal and short rock jetties guard its mouth on the Gulf. Moving water at the canal mouth draws redfish, speckled trout, flounder, sheepshead and black drum, with Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and pompano along the beach in season. Fish the tide as it flows in and out of the canal, with live shrimp, jigs and small spoons. The city is about to rebuild the canal jetties with FEMA money and was setting a start date in late September 2026, so parts of the mouth will close while that work runs. The canal is a no-wake boat channel with no swimming, and the jetty rocks are slick.
