WindMark Beach North Access is a Gulf County public beach access off U.S. 98 between St. Joe Beach and Port St. Joe, with a lot, restrooms and outdoor showers, and a path through the dunes down to a west-facing beach that looks across to the tip of the St. Joseph Peninsula. The county's tourism office says the WindMark accesses are a little more secluded, which suits a surf angler: pompano and Gulf whiting work the trough in spring and fall, redfish and a few speckled trout feed along the bar, flounder leave the bay in the fall, and Spanish mackerel, bluefish and ladyfish follow the bait in warm weather. Shrimp or sand fleas on a bottom rig, and a spoon or soft plastic, cover most days. There are no lifeguards or daily flags here, so judge the surf yourself, and watch for rip currents, stingrays and summer storms.
