Gordon Pass Fishing

Gordon Pass is the main inlet from Naples Bay to the Gulf, at the far south end of the Naples beach, and the rock jetties at its mouth are a long-standing Naples shore spot for snook, sheepshead and mangrove snapper. Getting to the north jetty takes effort: the nearest beach accesses, at 32nd and 33rd Avenues South off Gordon Drive, are parking for beach-permit holders only, and from there it is about a mile's walk south along the sand past the Port Royal homes. Through the warm months snook work the rocks and the groins on the way, jacks and Spanish mackerel run bait through the inlet, and in winter sheepshead and black drum feed on the rocks. Fish the moving tide, above all the outgoing. Boats run the pass constantly and the current is strong, so keep your footing on the rocks and your casts out of the channel.
