Gordon River Greenway Fishing

The Gordon River Greenway is a free Collier County park that follows the tidal Gordon River for more than two miles through the middle of Naples, with boardwalks through the mangroves and fishing and look-out piers over the water. It is a quiet, easy place to fish brackish water close to town: snook and small tarpon roll along the mangrove edges, while jacks, mangrove snapper, ladyfish and catfish feed on the moving tide. Light spinning tackle with live shrimp or small soft plastics covers most of it. The park is open 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. with restrooms, picnic pavilions and a kayak launch, and dogs are welcome on a leash. Watch for bikes on the paths, keep back from the water's edge where alligators may lurk, and leave at the first summer thunder.
