Fee to fish: State park per-vehicle day-use fee to reach the inlet (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Fort George Inlet is the narrow, shifting mouth of the Fort George River between the south end of Little Talbot Island and the north end of Huguenot Memorial Park in Jacksonville. Shore anglers reach it on foot along the beach from Little Talbot Island State Park's southern beach parking, and fish the sand spit where the river's current meets the surf. It is a prime spot for bull redfish in fall, black drum in late winter and spring, flounder along the drop-offs, and bluefish and jacks in the current. Fish the first half of the outgoing tide with cut mullet or crab on a fish-finder rig. Expect a long soft-sand walk, very strong current, shifting sandbars that flood on the rising tide, and summer lightning.
