Fee to fish: State park per-vehicle day-use entrance fee (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Little Talbot Island State Park is an undeveloped barrier island north of Jacksonville with about five miles of wild beach between Fort George Inlet and Nassau Sound. It is one of the best surf fishing beaches in northeast Florida: pompano, whiting and bluefish run the troughs in spring and fall, redfish and black drum work the inlet ends, and the salt marsh behind the island holds seatrout, flounder and reds. Walk the boardwalks from the beach parking areas, set up on the first trough on a rising tide, and use sand fleas bought beforehand, shrimp or cut mullet. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset for a per-vehicle entrance fee. Rip currents, strong inlet current at both ends, summer lightning and a long walk with no shade are the hazards.
