Huguenot Park Jetty Fishing

7.6· Jetty · Atlantic Beach, FL

Fee to fish: Per-vehicle entry fee; lower rate for walkers, cyclists, military (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Huguenot Memorial Park is a City of Jacksonville park on the north side of the mouth of the St. Johns River, and its southern edge is the river's north jetty. Anglers fish the beach beside the rocks, the river shoreline and the ocean surf for bull redfish, black drum and sheepshead, flounder, bluefish and whiting, with Spanish mackerel, tarpon and sharks in summer. The big St. Johns tides (around five feet) drive strong current along the jetty; the outgoing and the turn of the tide fish best. The park charges an entry fee, opens at 6 a.m. and closes between 6 and 8 p.m. with the season, allows beach driving, and at times closes to arrivals for high tides or when full. Ship wakes, strong currents, slick rocks and seasonal bird closures are the things to know.
