Davis Islands Beach Fishing

6.0· Beach · Tampa, FL

Davis Islands Beach is a small City of Tampa beach on the east shore of the Seaplane Basin at the south end of Davis Islands, beside Peter O. Knight Airport, and the city's own parks data list fishing here. Cast from the sand into the sheltered basin for snook, redfish and spotted seatrout, with mangrove snapper, sheepshead and black drum in the deeper water and jacks and ladyfish chasing bait in the warm months. Live shrimp, pilchards or a soft plastic worked on a moving tide fish best. The beach is open from sunrise to sunset. The city boat ramp next to it is open around the clock, but the ramps, docks and basin walls are not fishing areas, so fish only from the beach. A dog beach and dog park sit across Severn Avenue. Keep clear of swimmers, paddlers and anchored boats, and leave when storms build.
