Bokeelia Fishing Pier

8.2· Pier · Lee County, FL

Fee to fish: Pay-to-fish pier; per-person fee at the gate (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Bokeelia Fishing Pier runs out from the northern tip of Pine Island into the mouth of Charlotte Harbor, where the harbor meets Pine Island Sound and the water off the end is deeper and busier with bait than most places a shore angler can reach in Lee County. People have fished here for more than a century, and the list is long: snook, redfish, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, pompano, Spanish mackerel, trout, sharks and the odd tarpon or grouper. The warm months bring snook, snapper and mackerel; winter is sheepshead, black drum and grouper. Fish the moving tide with live shrimp or pinfish. It is privately run, charges a daily fee, sells bait and rents rods, and the operator says no license is needed on the pier. It is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Watch the heat, lightning and summer bugs.
