Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Koreshan State Park in Estero gives shore anglers a shaded, quiet stretch of the brackish Estero River, about three miles upstream of Estero Bay. The park itself says snook, redfish and mullet are caught at several spots along the river, and its picnic area sits on the bank, with the River Trail following the water upstream. Expect snook, mangrove snapper, jacks and catfish, redfish on the higher tides and juvenile tarpon in the warm months; in the wet season the river can run fresh enough for bass. NOAA's station where the river meets Estero Bay shows two uneven highs and lows on most days, usually one to two feet apart, so fish the moving water. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset, with a $5 per vehicle entry fee. Mind the alligators, snags and summer lightning.
