Imperial River Boat Ramp Fishing

Imperial River Boat Ramp is a Lee County boat ramp in Bonita Springs, beside the US 41 bridge over the tidal Imperial River, and a short wooden walkway from its lot leads to a small fishing pier over the river. It is a backwater spot for light tackle: snook hold along the mangrove banks much of the year, juvenile tarpon roll in the warm months, and mangrove snapper, jacks, ladyfish and the odd redfish or sheepshead turn up when the water is salty. Fish the moving tide with live shrimp, small pinfish or soft plastics. Parking is a small daily fee, the site opens dawn to dusk and has restrooms, and fishing is not allowed in the boat launch area. The water runs dark and fresh after heavy rain, which slows the saltwater bite.
