Miami Marine Stadium Basin Trail, Virginia Key Fishing

4.9· Seawall· Fisher Island, FL

The Basin Trail is a City of Miami waterfront path of about 8,000 feet that wraps around the sheltered Marine Stadium basin on Virginia Key, finished in 2024. Trail listings name fishing among its activities, but the city's own page does not, so treat it as a low-confidence option and read the posted signs. The basin is protected from the open bay, with a hard waterfront edge and mangroves, the kind of water where mangrove snapper, snook and jacks hold in the warm months. Light tackle and live shrimp are the usual approach. Access is from the south end near the stadium, and the trail is a long walk out and back. Boat traffic in the basin, including party boats, is heavy on weekends.
