Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park Seawall Fishing

6.2· Seawall · Key Biscayne, FL

Fee to fish: State park entrance fee, per vehicle or reduced rate for others (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park covers the southern tip of Key Biscayne, and its Biscayne Bay shore is lined by a seawall. The park allows fishing only from its eight bayside fishing platforms and a section of the seawall at the southern tip, near the Cape Florida Lighthouse; the beach and mangroves are off-limits. The platforms have been closed for repairs since September 2023, so for now the wall at the tip is where you fish. Deep water and strong tidal flow off the point bring mangrove snapper, jacks, snook, barracuda and sheepshead, with grunts and yellowtail when the water is clear. Fish a moving tide early in the day. The park charges an entrance fee and is open 8 a.m. until sundown, so there is no night fishing. Watch for boat wakes, the drop off the wall and summer lightning.
