Fee to fish: Daily parking fee functions as the entry charge (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Matheson Hammock Park is Miami-Dade County's first park, a stretch of tropical hammock, beach and marina on Biscayne Bay off Old Cutler Road in Coral Gables. Anglers fish from the park's fishing pier by the marina for mangrove snapper, snook, crevalle jack, barracuda and tarpon, with sheepshead in winter and bonefish and seatrout on the bay flats. County park rules allow fishing only in areas set aside for it, so the marina slips, fuel dock, boat ramps, beach and atoll pool are off-limits. Fish the moving tide, early or late in the day, with live shrimp or pilchards near structure. The marina has a bait-and-tackle shop, and the park has a beach, a tidal atoll pool and a restaurant. There is a parking fee, the park is open sunrise to sunset, and pets are not allowed. Watch for boat traffic and summer lightning.
