Sunset Park, Key Colony Beach Fishing
5.7· Pier · Key Colony Beach, FL
Free: No entry fee listed by the city (checked Sep 27, 2026)
Sunset Park is the City of Key Colony Beach's small waterfront park on the corner of West Ocean Drive and 12th Street, best known for sunset views and free winter concerts. Fishing used to be banned here, but in September 2025 the city adopted an ordinance that allows it in the designated area of the park's short pier, under rules approved the same day: fishing from 6 a.m. until an hour before sunset, one rod or handline each and no more than five people fishing at once. Expect mangrove and lane snapper, barracuda, jacks and needlefish in the clear water off the pier, with pinfish for bait. Tides come twice a day, and moving water fishes best. Swimming, snorkeling and jumping off the pier are banned, and the city warns of crocodiles and swift currents around the park. Heat and summer lightning are the other hazards.
