Jaycee Park Boardwalk, Boynton Beach Fishing

6.3· Pier· Briny Breezes, FL

Jaycee Park is a 5.5-acre City of Boynton Beach park on the west bank of the Intracoastal Waterway, and its east edge is a mangrove preserve with a 300-foot boardwalk built in 2009 for fishing and nature watching. The boardwalk puts you over shallow, mangrove-lined Intracoastal water where manatees are often seen, and local fishing reports have mentioned snook feeding in the Intracoastal off Boynton Beach. Expect snook and mangrove snapper in the warm months, sheepshead around hard structure in winter, plus jacks, ladyfish and catfish. Live shrimp on light tackle suits the quiet water, and moving tide is the key. The park also has a playground, picnic pavilions and a small paddle launch north of the boardwalk. Watch for boat wakes, summer lightning and mosquitoes near the mangroves.
