Ocean Ridge Hammock Park Fishing

Ocean Ridge Hammock Park is a small Palm Beach County park on A1A in Ocean Ridge, a short drive south of the Boynton Inlet, with an unguarded Atlantic beach, free parking and an outdoor shower but no restroom. Because there is no guarded swimming zone to steer around, surf anglers can set up where they like, though anyone swimming still deserves a wide berth. The cooler months, late fall into spring, bring pompano, whiting and bluefish; in summer and through the fall mullet run it is snook, jacks and the odd tarpon. Fish the rising tide early or late in the day, with sand fleas, clam or shrimp on a double-drop rig, or sweep a bucktail through the wash for snook. Hours are sunrise to sunset. With no lifeguards on duty, rip currents are your own lookout, and lightning is the signal to leave.
