Jim Barry Light Harbor Park is a small Palm Beach County park on the Riviera Beach shore of the Lake Worth Lagoon, facing Peanut Island across the Intracoastal channel just inside the Lake Worth Inlet. Anglers fish from its long fishing pier, which reaches out into the lagoon, and along the seawall, where cleaner inlet water pushes in on the incoming tide. Mangrove snapper and snook are the staples, sheepshead and black drum take over in winter, and jacks, barracuda and tarpon push through in the warm months. Fish the incoming tide with live shrimp, pilchards or small jigs, and drop fiddler crabs along the wall for sheepshead. The park has restrooms, benches and shade stands, and it is open sunrise to sunset. It is also a boat ramp park with three ramps, so keep clear of launching boats, and watch for strong currents and summer lightning.
