Anclote Key Preserve State Park Fishing

6.7· Beach · Tarpon Springs, FL

Free: No park entry fee; getting there needs a boat or paid ferry (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Anclote Key Preserve State Park is a string of undeveloped barrier islands about three miles off Tarpon Springs, reached only by private boat or a ferry, with an 1887 lighthouse near the south end of Anclote Key. Florida State Parks calls the fishing outstanding throughout the park and says anglers catch spotted seatrout, redfish, snook and sharks. Walk the Gulf beach for snook and pompano in the trough, or fish the grass flats on the bay side for trout and redfish. NOAA's Anclote Key station shows two uneven highs and lows on most days, ranging about 2 to 5 feet. The park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset with no fee, though its dock, boardwalk and lighthouse have been closed for storm recovery since October 2024. Nothing is sold on the islands, pets are not allowed on Anclote Key, and ferry schedules set your day.
