Safety Harbor Pier Fishing

6.7· Pier · Safety Harbor, FL

Also called Fire Marshal Dick Brock Memorial Pier

Safety Harbor Pier is the city's pier on Old Tampa Bay beside Waterfront Park in downtown Safety Harbor. Hurricane Helene destroyed the old pier in 2024; the rebuilt pier, wider and sturdier than before, reopened in late August 2026. It reaches out over the shallow upper bay, where snook, redfish and spotted seatrout feed along the grass and shell bottom, sheepshead and black drum gather on the pilings in the cooler months, and mangrove snapper, jacks, ladyfish and the odd summer tarpon move through in the warm months. Fish a moving tide with live shrimp, pilchards or fiddler crabs. The neighboring marina and boat ramp are being rebuilt until the end of 2026, so use the parking and park entrance on Jefferson Street. Watch for summer lightning and boat traffic.
