Wall Springs Park Fishing

6.1· Pier · Palm Harbor, FL

Wall Springs Park is a 210-acre Pinellas County park in Palm Harbor wrapped around Boggy Bayou, a shallow tidal backwater where the old Wall Springs spa spring runs in. Several small fishing piers reach off a peninsula of paved paths into the bayou, where redfish, spotted seatrout and snook work the bayou edges, sheepshead and black drum nose around the pilings in the cooler months, and mangrove snapper and jacks turn up in summer. Fish the higher half of a moving tide with live shrimp under a cork or a small soft plastic. The park is open 7 a.m. to sunset, with parking, restrooms and picnic shelters close to the water. Expect thin water at low tide, and leave the piers when summer lightning builds.
