Venice Beach Fishing

6.3· Beach · Venice, FL

Free: Free parking, with overflow parking nearby (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Venice Beach is the main public beach of Venice, at the west end of West Venice Avenue, and early and late in the day it is a good place to surf fish before or after the swimmers. Anglers work the trough for snook at first light in summer, pompano and Gulf whiting from late fall to spring, and Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and jacks when bait runs along the beach. Fish a rising tide on a calm, clear Gulf. City rules ban fishing in the swimming area, and a lifeguard can tell you to stop if swimmers are at risk, so set up away from the guarded zone. Parking is free and there are lifeguards, restrooms and a concession. Watch for stingrays and rip currents, and leave at the first thunder.
