Vilano Beach Fishing Pier

7.0· Pier · St. Augustine, FL

Free: No county fee listed to fish the pier (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The Vilano Beach Fishing Pier is a public St. Johns County pier on the Intracoastal Waterway (the Tolomato River) at the foot of the Vilano bridge, looking across to historic St. Augustine and close to the St. Augustine Inlet. Tidal current sweeps past the pier, bringing redfish, black drum and flounder along the bottom, sheepshead to the pilings, and seasonal trout, mangrove snapper, jacks, bluefish and Spanish mackerel. It fishes best on moving water either side of slack. The pier is open dawn to dusk, with parking and restrooms, and no county fee is listed. It is the handy alternative while the county's ocean pier at St. Augustine Beach is closed for piling repairs, expected to last until the end of November 2026. Mind the strong current and summer lightning.
