Fountain Pier is a small City of D'Iberville waterfront park at the south end of Batia Avenue, on the north shore of the Back Bay of Biloxi. A wooden boardwalk runs along the water and links four finger piers, each ending in a covered shelter, three reaching into a quiet cove and one out toward the open bay. The city bills it as a place to bring the family fishing, and it adds a two-story pavilion, grills, picnic tables and stations for cleaning the catch. The water is brackish: speckled trout and redfish come through when the bay runs salty, white trout and croaker fill in through the warm months, sheepshead and black drum hang on the pilings, and catfish take over after heavy rain. Live shrimp under a cork or on a light bottom rig covers most of it. Wind moves the water more than the small tide, and the park is closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
