The Christopher Blankenship Eco-Tourism Area is a waterfront park on Aloe Bay, on the north side of Dauphin Island, opened by the town in July 2025 on El Dorado Avenue across from Dauphin Island Marina; most of its 83 acres are bay bottom. Its shoreline, which Alabama's conservation department describes as a place to bask in the sun and fish, and its small pocket beach face the sheltered back side of the island, with marsh, two boardwalks and an osprey nest around them. Cast for speckled trout, redfish and flounder along the grass edges, with white trout, croaker and catfish on the bottom in summer. The water is shallow and calm, so wind and rain matter more than the small daily tide. Restrooms, picnic tables and a car-top kayak launch are on site. Watch for lightning and keep clear of paddlers.
