Harbor Point Park, Merritt Island Fishing

4.8· Backwater· Cocoa Beach, FL

Harbor Point Park is a small Brevard County neighborhood park on the Banana River at the end of Harbor Point Drive in Merritt Island. A wooded path leads to a waterfront deck with a bench, a boardwalk and overlook, and a dock with stairs that step down toward the water. The county lists no restrooms or other facilities, and its page does not mention fishing, so treat this as a quiet, light-tackle spot where you read the signs before you cast. The Banana River is a shallow, brackish lagoon with very little tide, and the catch shifts with rain and season. Expect seatrout, redfish and black drum over the grass in cooler months, and jacks, ladyfish and the odd snook in summer. Bring your own bait, keep your gear light and watch for boats passing close to the dock.
