Fee to fish: State park entrance fee per vehicle (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The south jetty at Port Everglades Inlet forms the northern tip of Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (formerly John U. Lloyd Beach State Park) in Dania Beach, and it is one of Broward's best-known shore spots. Anglers fish from the jetty over deep water where the port's channel meets the ocean, and from the beach beside it, which the park names for fishing when no swimmers are nearby. Snook and tarpon run the inlet, mangrove snapper and sheepshead hold on the rocks, jacks and blue runners chase bait, and the spring and fall pompano runs pass the beach alongside. Fish the tide changes, early and late in the day. The park is open 8 a.m. to sunset and charges a per-vehicle entrance fee. Hazards are real: slippery rocks, strong current, big wakes from cruise ships and freighters, and summer lightning.
