Barefoot Beach Preserve Fishing

6.5· Beach · Bonita Springs, FL

Free: No entry fee; parking fee unless you hold a county beach permit (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Barefoot Beach Preserve is a Collier County park on one of the last undeveloped barrier islands on Southwest Florida's coast: 342 acres of dunes, sea oats and hammock with 8,200 feet of natural beach. Surf anglers work the first trough for snook in summer and for pompano, whiting and Spanish mackerel in the cooler months, and those willing to walk south reach Wiggins Pass, where deeper, faster water holds snook, redfish and snapper on the moving tide. The back of the island is tidal creeks and mangroves, reached by kayak. The preserve opens 8 a.m. to sunset, with a daily parking fee unless you hold a Collier County beach permit, and restrooms at the parking lot 1 pavilion. Watch for stingrays, rip currents and boat traffic at the pass.
