Island View Park, Carrabelle Fishing

Island View Park is a seven-acre Franklin County park on St. George Sound, about 1.8 miles east of Carrabelle on US 98, with two fishing piers, boardwalks with benches and porch-style swings, and a kayak launch looking out toward Dog Island. Hurricane Michael wrecked it in 2018; the county repaired both piers and the parking area and reopened the park in December 2022. The sound's grass flats hold speckled trout, redfish, flounder and sheepshead most of the year, with Spanish mackerel, bluefish, ladyfish and pompano from spring to fall. Fish live shrimp under a cork or soft plastics over the grass on a moving tide. For now there is only a portable toilet; in 2026 the county contracted a restroom and a covered pavilion, so expect some construction. Watch for lightning, heat and traffic on US 98.
