St. George Island State Park Pavilion 2 Fishing
7.0· Beach· Franklin County, FL
Pavilion 2 is the second beach-use area on the road through Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park, farther out toward the quiet eastern tip of the island. It has its own lot, restrooms and a stretch of open Gulf shoreline where anglers fish the bars and troughs from the sand. Local anglers have long praised the park's far east end, but vehicle access to the East End fishing area is currently closed, so fish the beach here instead. Whiting are the steady catch, with Spanish mackerel and pompano in the spring and fall runs, plus redfish near the bars in fall. Use fresh shrimp for the bottom fish and a gold spoon for the mackerel. The park is open 8 a.m. to sundown with a per-vehicle entrance fee. Watch for rip currents, sun and afternoon thunderstorms.
