Round Island Riverside Park Fishing

6.6· Backwater · St. Lucie Village, FL

Round Island Riverside Park is an Indian River County park on the Indian River Lagoon, on A1A about 7.5 miles south of Vero Beach's 17th Street. A footbridge leads to a small island with trails, an observation tower and a fishing pier, and the park also has a 400-foot boardwalk, two boat ramps and a canoe launch. The shallow grass flats around it hold snook, redfish, seatrout, black drum and jacks, and the pier gives a quiet spot to fish shrimp or cast soft plastics along the grass edges. Early morning is best, especially in summer. The county lists the park as open 24 hours, with restrooms and a paved lot, and its park rules allow fishing only where it is designated. Manatees are common, so fish with care; lightning and heat are the main hazards.
