Bernice Braden Park Fishing

6.5· Bridge · Harlem Heights, FL

Bernice Braden Park is a narrow City of Cape Coral waterfront park at the Cape Coral end of the Cape Coral Bridge, and the city lists its shoreline and the water under the bridge as an approved fishing location open 24 hours. The bridge pilings and the river edge make it a classic sheepshead and black drum spot in winter, while snook, redfish, mangrove snapper and spotted seatrout work the shoreline and the bridge shadows through the warmer months, with jacks, ladyfish and the occasional tarpon passing in the channel. Fish the moving tide with shrimp, fiddler crabs or live bait close to the structure. There are river views from both sides of Cape Coral Parkway, but facilities are few. Watch for boat traffic, a slippery bank and summer lightning, and never fish from the bridge roadway.
