San Carlos Bay Bunche Beach Preserve is a Lee County preserve on the mainland shore of San Carlos Bay, with views across to Sanibel, where wide, shallow sand flats, seagrass and mangrove edges stretch out from a natural beach. It is a wade-fishing and kayak spot rather than a place to soak baits: redfish, snook and spotted seatrout cruise the flats and potholes, with sheepshead, flounder, ladyfish and small sharks along the way. Wade out on a rising tide at first light with a jig, a topwater plug or shrimp under a cork, and look for tailing reds. There are two small fishing and viewing piers, composting restrooms, a kayak launch and hourly paid parking, open dawn to dusk. Shuffle for stingrays and watch the tide on the flats.
