Bird Creek Park Fishing

6.3· Beach · Yankeetown, FL

Free: Free entry, no charge to fish (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Bird Creek Park is a free Levy County park near the end of County Road 40, the Follow That Dream road that runs west from Yankeetown through salt marsh and tidal creeks to Withlacoochee Bay and the Gulf. It has a small sandy beach, picnic pavilions and a boat ramp just past the entrance, and shore anglers fish the beach, the creek and the rocky edges for redfish, speckled trout, sheepshead and black drum, with mangrove snapper, jacks and ladyfish in summer. Cut mullet on the bottom or live shrimp under a cork are the local standbys. Most days bring two uneven high and low tides and the water here is shallow, so a rising or high tide fishes far better than low water. The park is open sunrise to sunset with parking and restrooms. There is no lifeguard, so keep clear of swimmers, and watch for oysters, stingrays and summer lightning.
