Cedar Key City Pier Fishing

7.3· Pier · Cedar Key, FL

Free: Free entry to fish the pier (checked Sep 27, 2026)

The Cedar Key City Pier, the big public fishing pier at the corner of Dock Street and C Street, is the easiest way to fish Cedar Key without a boat. It reaches out over the channels and oyster bars between the island and Atsena Otie Key, and holds redfish, speckled trout, sheepshead, black drum and flounder, with Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and the odd cobia in the warm months and mangrove snapper around the pilings in summer. Moving tide is key, especially the first of the flood. Helene cut the pier off from land in 2024; its access ramps were rebuilt and it reopened in 2025. It is free, close to restaurants and parking. Hazards are summer lightning and slippery decking.
